OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: RA registered aircraft was involved in a ground occurrence at LaTrobe Valley Aerodrome on 19th August 2025. It was reported that the Pilot operating the aircraft was undertaking an engine ground run-up, and inadvertently knocked the throttle while accessing a tool box on ground from the aircraft. It was further added that a nearby Hangar wall and another aircraft (parked in the hangar) were damaged due to the occurrence.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: RA registered aircraft was involved in a wildlife strike occurrence at South Grafton Airstrip, NSW. It was reported that kangaroos impacted the aircraft undercarriage while on take-off roll. Subsequently, the take-off was continued and after a brief review in flight, the Pilot landed the aircraft safely at South Grafton Airstrip without any further events. A minor damage to starboard side gear leg of the aircraft was reported due to the occurrence. RAAus continues to monitor bird strike and wildlife reports at aerodromes to ensure correct ERSA/NOTAM information is in place and to enable reporting to the aerodrome proprietor.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: RA registered aircraft was involved in a technical occurrence at Bendigo Aerodrome. It was reported that the crew observed a squealing noise during circuit, which was later determined due to unsettled Flywheel bolts during the flight. It was further noted that the PIC had switched-off the engine and informed engine failure on CTAF, and subsequently landed safely without further events.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: RA registered Jabiru aircraft was involved in a forced landing occurrence in a paddock 4NM east of Tooradin aerodrome on 20th June 2025. It was reported that the flight was undertaken for a BFR check for the owner of the aircraft. The aircraft upon landing on the paddock ran into a wire fence and small drain. It was reported that the nose and the main landing gears were damaged, however, nil injuries were reported due to this occurrence.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: RAAus registered Jabiru aircraft, during a flight from William Creek to Port Pirie, made an emergency landing in a paddock approx. 1NM north of Port Pirie Aerodrome. The PIC has reported that they began descending from 3500 ft approx. 10NM north of Port Pirie, and experienced first engine backfire at 2000 ft that resulted in reduced power. Subsequently, three more backfires were experienced and the engine stopped at 900 ft, due to which the PIC conducted an emergency landing in a paddock. The aircraft was landed without any further damage, and no occupants were injured due to the incident.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: The crew (instructor and student pilot) were conducting flying training and then paused their operations for a break. Then, before resuming further flying training, the instructor conducted another pre-flight lesson briefing, and the student started the engine. It was observed that the engine was running rough and the instructor decided to put the engine down. On inspection, it was found that the exhaust valve of Cylinder No. 4 was out of its place and wasn’t functioning properly. In discussion with the manufacturer, there were no causative factors identified.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: The aircraft overran runway 26 during landing. After touchdown, the pilot applied brakes, but it felt like aquaplaning, and the aircraft failed to stop. The aircraft had no steering functionality. The aircraft was eventually taxied to a parking area, where it is awaiting an L2 inspection before returning to the home base.

OCCURRENCE SUBMITTED TO DETAILS RAAUS: The pilot landed on grass adjacent to runway 27 at Wangaratta. They thought they were on the runway however there is a drainage culvert which they did not see after landing. They were going approx 25kts and were about to apply brakes when the nose wheel went into the drain and damage occurred.
